Policy
Terms of Service
These terms apply to the adult — teacher, parent, or administrator — who creates a Kuros Lab account. Kids using a class code don't create accounts and aren't bound by these terms; their use is governed by the adult who issued the code.
In this policy
The agreement
By creating a Kuros Lab account or using the Kuros Lab service, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't create an account.
“We” / “us” refers to Kuros Lab. “You” refers to the adult account holder. “The service” refers to the Kuros Lab mobile app, the Kuros Lab website, and any related features we operate.
Who can use Kuros Lab
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an adult account.
- You must be acting on behalf of yourself, a classroom you teach, or a child for whom you are the parent or legal guardian.
- You must follow your local laws — including the laws governing how schools can use third-party tools with kids.
Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
- You're responsible for everything that happens under your account, including the classes you create and the kids you give access codes to.
- If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and email security@kuroslab.com.
Managing a class
When you create a class and issue access codes, you're acting as the kid's gateway to the service. By doing so, you confirm:
- You have the authority — as a teacher, parent, or guardian — to introduce these kids to a third-party tool.
- You're responsible for any required parent communication about the tools used in your classroom.
- You will not share your access codes outside the class they were created for.
- You will revoke access codes promptly when a kid leaves the class.
We do not contact parents directly. If a parent needs information about their child's data, they should contact the teacher first; we're available as a backstop.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Kuros Lab for any purpose other than learning
- Attempt to access another teacher's account or class data
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically copy our content or interfaces
- Upload or input content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringing
- Use the service to transmit viruses or malicious code
- Place unreasonable load on our infrastructure (rate limits apply)
If we believe you've violated these rules, we may suspend your access while we investigate.
Intellectual property
Kuros Lab, the Kuro mascot, the visual design, the curriculum content, and all related materials are owned by us. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for educational purposes.
Anything you create using Kuros Lab — kid attempts, teacher notes, your class structure — belongs to you. We process it on your behalf and don't claim ownership.
Fees & subscriptions
At launch, Kuros Lab is free to use. If we introduce paid plans in the future, we'll notify signed-in teachers by email at least 60 days before any plan change affects them, and we'll never charge anyone retroactively or auto-enroll an existing free user into a paid plan without explicit consent.
Termination
You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We'll delete your account data and any kid records tied to it within 14 days of closure.
We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these terms. We'll give you written notice and a chance to fix the issue, except in cases involving safety, security, or legal compulsion.
Warranty disclaimer
The service is provided “as is.” We work hard to make Kuros Lab reliable, but we don't promise it will be error-free or always available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) USD $100, or (b) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
We are not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill — even if we've been advised of the possibility.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent the law permits.
Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we'll notify signed-in teachers by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction — to be filled in], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these terms or the service will be brought exclusively in the courts of [Jurisdiction], and you and we consent to that jurisdiction.
